“In my experience – and, I believe, in the history of the Hudson Valley – there has never been an outpouring of love and caring for the river such as we have seen in this case,” said John Lipscomb, Riverkeeper’s Patrol Boat Captain and Vice President for Advocacy.
“Through its silence and lack of transparency throughout the entire process, the Coast Guard has shown that it simply does not hold our communities – the ones that stand to be directly impacted by their current proposal – in the same regard.”
“In the 43 years I’ve worked on the Hudson River, I have not seen an agency take the actions the Coast Guard has taken to block transparency,” said Pace Senior Fellow for Environmental Affairs John Cronin.
This particular plan should be withdrawn. The public can, indeed, help make that happen. On behalf of the river and for the sake of a more enlightened plan, people should voice their dissent before it’s too late.
